Dr. Avri Eitan
Assistant Professor
Department of Geography, Hebrew University of Jerusalem
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I previously served as a senior researcher at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. With over a decade of experience across environmental and energy policy arenas, I have held senior roles in public authorities and private consulting, contributing to the design and implementation of regulatory and environmental policy frameworks. My research focuses on environmental governance and environmental innovation, examining how institutional arrangements, regulatory practices, and societal dynamics shape environmental decision-making as well as the development, diffusion, and adoption of sustainable innovations. Drawing on geography, environmental studies, public policy, and economics, my work addresses core environmental challenges under conditions of uncertainty, technological change, and competing priorities, with energy transitions serving as a key empirical domain.
